Let’s Make Every Week Nurses Week

When it comes to nurses, you can never have enough of a good thing. That’s why we think Nurses Week should be celebrated every week!

Mark your calendars! May 6 (National Nurses Day) through May 12 (Florence Nightingale’s birthday, the founder of modern nursing), is nationally recognized as Nurses Week. During this week we celebrate the healthcare industry and publicly recognize and honor the unsung heroes of the healthcare world.

When it comes to nurses, you can never have enough of a good thing. That’s why we think Nurses Week should be celebrated every week! Considering how much the men and women of nursing do to provide quality, compassionate, innovative care for patients and communities alike, our national celebration and support for nurses can easily extend to 52 weeks a year.

Hear us out…

Five Reasons Nurses Rock All Year Long

  1. Frontline warriors. Nurses are at the forefront of healthcare, often the first and most frequent contact point for patients and their families. Exciting shifts (never a dull moment) and hours spent caring at bedsides, nurses wear many hats (and capes?) as advocates for patients, trusted members of the treatment team, and on the first line of care for the healthcare organization.
  2. Masters of multi-tasking. If you need something done—or many things done—ask a nurse. Whether it’s administering treatment, assisting doctors, holding the hands of a patient and their family or navigating any of a variety of daily challenges, nurses are the heroes of healthcare. Nurses often manage several tasks and priorities at once, with compassion, care, and expertise.
  3. Representation matters! Having a diverse workforce makes the entire healthcare system stronger, from patient care and improved medical practitioners to administrative leadership and powerful family advocates. Having a workforce that understands various backgrounds, patient issues and culturally diverse perspectives leads to a deeper understanding of patient care and a clearer path to proper, quality healthcare.
  4. Innovation and advancement. Healthcare and the best of our treatment methods will continue to evolve and advance, thanks to the dedication of those who see the best and worst every day. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment for registered nurses (RNs) is projected to grow 6% from 2022 to 2032, faster than the average for all occupations. Remember, with nurses playing a critical role in our nation's health, attracting, training and maintaining the growing demand for skilled nurses is a priority we all should embrace for the future of healthcare and our communities and families.
  5. Because why not? Seriously, do we need a special reason to celebrate nurses? They're out there every day, pushing past the blood, sweat, tears and fears to keep us healthy and happy. Let’s make every week Nurses Week and shower them with all the love, respect, and appreciation they deserve!

Join us as we raise our glass (or Florence Nightingale lamps!) to every nurse across every field, during Nurses Week 2024 and beyond. We appreciate you!
